The Deposit Protection Scheme: The deposit protection scheme is the body which we use in order to protect tenancy deposits. This allows tenants, and indeed landlords, to breathe easy knowing that their money is in a protected account, unable to be released without both parties consenting. The DPS currently protect over 1.2 million deposits, meaning your money is in safe hands.
The DPS also give £20,000 to charities focusing on the housing sector every quarter (not from your money don’t worry!!); this extremely generous gesture makes us a proud user of their facilities. If you would like to read more about their generous donations, please visit their website.
The Property Ombudsman: We are accredited with the Property Ombudsman as a precautionary measure against disputes that may arise during the tenancy. The Property Ombudsman provides an external independent body who is able to make the final decision in an impartial way. This ensures that everyone is treated as fairly as possible throughout and at the end of their tenancy, without money being taken unnecessarily or without reason. This provides a chance for us to solve problems without it becoming a personal battle between landlords, tenants or ourselves, but also gives us insight into their criteria for resolving disputes, which maintains our ability to resolve issues in house.
Landlord Accreditation Scheme: This provides recognition that our properties under full management are well managed and to a good standard of accommodation. It also allows us to be in close contact with Portsmouth City Council, with access to advice on legal requirements we have as your letting agent. This is a benefit to us in a local sense, keeping us up to standard with the practices in place in Portsmouth.
